Fila has teamed up with NYC-based brand Krost to come up with a cool pair of sneakers. Krost, which was started by Samuel Krost, is a mission-driven brand with the goal of increasing awareness surrounding different issues, consistently partnering with various leading non-profit organizations. For this collection, Krost has teamed up with nine different organizations such as Food Bank for New York, BK Community Fridges, March For Our Lives, The National Alliance on Mental Illness, Stomp Out Bullying, Encourage Kids Foundation, Freedom March NYC, The Descendants, and advocates committed to the LGBTQ+ Empowerment Movement. The campaign features multiple activists in it.
“The purpose behind highlighting activists in this campaign was to dive deeper into the brand’s story by shining a light on the individuals who form the powerful movements we aim to support. We view the collaboration with Fila as an opportunity to tell a comprehensive story that emphasizes the role unity plays in accomplishing positive and meaningful change in the world. By shedding light on these important initiatives, the hope is to encourage this generation to get involved and create similar change,” Samuel told us.
The Renno sneakers were crafted in recycled leather and also feature nylon, suede, and ripstop mesh accents. If you look at the back of the sneakers, you’ll notice that they say, “Support Your Friends.” The best part about the sneakers? 10 percent of sales will go to each of the participating organizations in addition to a standalone donation from Krost and Fila.
“The inspiration behind the design of the sneaker was to create a balance of durable, high-quality materials, decorative stitching, and a color story that can work with anyone’s wardrobe, coupled with subtle pops of branding utilizing reflecting 3M material,” Sam revealed. “Collaborating with such an iconic brand to produce a never-before-seen silhouette was an incredible milestone for Krost and a significant personal achievement for me, as I grew up seeing my grandfather wear the iconic Fila tracksuits everywhere he went.”
