In an interview with E! News, the reality show star has claimed that his portrayal on the show is not an “accurate representation of their relationship.”
The Power Rangers actor explained: “To set the record straight, what was captured in the show doesn’t reflect our relationship at all.
“I don’t believe the audience—and this is my opinion, Kelly’s gonna say her piece—really saw anything other than the absolute worst part of a time, a short time, that was put on camera.”
The relationship struggles that played out during the first season were “a set-up, trigger, and manipulation,” the TV personality has revealed.
Kelly, 35, agreed that rewatching the moments on television was an emotional experience for the couple, as she added: “There were definitely some things that were really difficult to watch.
“You know, but for me, I feel like…really proud how far we’ve come since filming.”
The pair have expressed that they’ve grown “from the show and became better versions” of themselves.
Bling Empire filmed in 2018 and 2019, and Kelly and Andrew decided to take a break in 2020 to better their own lives separately, though they have since reunited.
Both have previously admitted that they avoid internet negativity, as Andrew, 33 disclosed: “It’s surreal because you have hope that people will fact check, respond, reply but, time and time again, we see reactions, we see common hate, we see common anger through people who’ve also been affected in some way shape or form from a person, place or thing.”
Kelly divulged that her feedback can be both positive or degrading.
“With the fans, I get a little mix of support as well as negative. That little sliver of what they saw reminded them of something. So, just really heartbreaking that so many people are going through trauma.”
His girlfriend described her own reaction: “Sometimes, I do want to write back, ‘Are you the same person you were two-and-a-half years ago?'”
Andrew was declared “toxic” by fans of the new series after the actor screamed at Kelly for leaving him at the hotel to go shopping.
She told her cast-mate Anna: “I’m so annoyed. Andrew texted me and he’s so upset that we left him.
“I was like, ‘you were sleeping’.”
Later, Andrew called Kelly to cuss her out over the issue, loudly asking: “What the f**k is going on?”
She answered: “I don’t know, what’s going on with you?”
“Your lack of effort drives me f**king crazy. You can easily say, I’m not going to leave this hotel, until I let Andrew know,” he roasted.
“Would would want me to do that to you? Yes or no? I don’t want to hear anything but ‘yes’ or ‘no’.”
“I wouldn’t care,” Kelly retorted.
“Yes or no? Keep it simple! I’m upset! I don’t f**king treat you that way!” Andrew screamed.
